Celebrating the Dodge Charger’s 50th anniversary, a zone entirely devoted to kids and musical performances by Idle Frets, Bob ‘Elvis’ Sharpe & Sean Cotton, all help pave the way for the highly-anticipated event as the People’s Choice Piston Cup is up for grabs.

GRAVENHURST June 7th, 2016 – The 23rd Annual Gravenhurst Car Show sponsored by Canadian Tire Gravenhurst will be taking place Father’s Day Weekend on Saturday, June 18th at Gull Lake Rotary Park. With over 500 vehicle registrations, a kid’s zone and live music that encompasses an Elvis imitator located in the Food & Music Lounge sponsored by Sawdust City Brewing Company, it seems naïve to think that this won’t be a crowd-pleasing day – for both kids and adults.

Exclusive to the car show this year, Cavalcade Ford has generously donated a shuttle bus to transport event-goers to and from the event – making stops at Canadian Tire Gravenhurst, Sawdust City Brewing Company as well as the Residence Inn by Marriott Gravenhurst Muskoka Wharf. As for returning services, the Gravenhurst Royal Canadian Legion will be once again providing their early-morning breakfast, running from 7:00 -11:00 AM. For those of you who have extra room in the tank for activity there is more than enough entertainment within the community to fuel your engines; ranging from a romantic-comedy play put on by the Gravenhurst Opera House, all the way to a live performance by Terry Savage & the Wonky Honkees at Sawdust City Brewing Company Saloon Stage. The Gravenhurst Car Show has made giant strides in the right direction each and every year, and after the previous year’s successes, expectations for the present event soar.

“After last year’s success, we feel as though this year’s event can only result in a similar fashion,” co-owner of Canadian Tire Gravenhurst, Jeff Marshall, said. “We’ve been a major sponsor of the Gravenhurst Car Show for a while now; it’s astonishing to see the growth of the event and not only reflect on the positive impact it has on the Town of Gravenhurst, but the Muskoka region as a whole,” says co-owner of Canadian Tire Gravenhurst, Andrea Marshall, who concluded that “it comes as no surprise, that the event has been running for twenty-three consecutive years.”

In spite of the fact that the vintage automobiles will be rolling in promptly at 6:30 AM, the gates open at 9:00 AM for the public to attend.  The function is acclaimed as the Largest Car Show in Northern Ontario and will award 11 trophies at 2:30 PM – the People’s Choice Piston Cup, which is awarded to the vehicle that receives the most votes, and the People’s Choice Top 10 which is awarded to the next 10 vehicles receiving the most votes.

“The award ceremony is essential to the event’s success; which is why we’ve consecutively sponsored the award ceremony each year,” Wayne’s Tire Discounter owner, Wayne Haigh, had to say about the event. “The incorporation of live music and a kid’s zone also caters to a much larger audience – raising the overall attention of the event.”

Bob ‘Elvis’ Sharpe will be steering the commencement of live music at 9:30 AM, leading up to Sean Cotton at 11:00 AM and the Idle Frets at 12:45 PM – followed by an Idle Frets encore at 3:15 PM after the awards ceremony.  “Live music at events such as this, is an integral part of what sets the Gravenhurst Car Show apart from others, making our decision to sponsor the Food and Music Lounge an easy one year after year” comments Rob Engman, owner of Sawdust City Brewing Co.
